אמר ליה רבא לרבה בר מרי, מנא הא מילתא דאמרי אינשי בהדי הוצא לקי כרבא, דכתיב עד אנה מאנתם לשמור מצותי קוץ הגדל אצל כרוב כשבאין לעקרו ולפעמים נעקר הכרוב עמו ונמצא לוקה בשבילו, ומשל הוא ששכני הרשע לוקין בשביל הרשע. ומה שפירש"י ומשה ואהרן בכלל עיין מש"כ בדרשה הבאה. .
English: “Until when will you refuse” — this is one of the ten trials with which our ancestors tested the Holy One, Blessed be He, in the wilderness.
