Parashas Bo · Passuk 11:2
Chabad.org — English translation + Rashi
Torah Temimah points to Berachos 9b (verified).
Sefaria — Exodus 11:2
Sefaria — Berachos 9b
E-Daf — Berachos 9b
English: “Speak now (na)” — the school of Rabbi Yannai said: “Na” is only language of request. The Holy One, blessed be He, said to Moshe: I request of you, go tell Israel, I request of you, borrow from Egypt vessels of silver and vessels of gold, so that that righteous one [Avraham] will not say “They shall serve them and they shall afflict them” was fulfilled, but “and afterward they shall go out with great substance” was not fulfilled.
On the daf / in context: See the cited source for the full section.
Derash on the verse (Berachos / midrash) — “na” as polite request and the fulfillment of the covenant with Avraham.
Hashem asks Moshe and Israel to request the vessels so that the promise of great substance is realized.
