Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “Its branches run over the wall” — he merits the inheritance of two tribes (as already explained at the blessing of Yissachar).

On the daf / in context: The double portion of Yosef is already treated in the sugya that pairs the ox and the ass; this clause supplies the parallel for Yosef.

Type of Learning

Cross-reference to the earlier derash on the double inheritance.

What Is Learned

Yosef’s “branches running over the wall” alludes to the double tribal inheritance already discussed under Yissachar.
