כֻּלָּ֕נוּ בְּנֵ֥י אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד נָ֑חְנוּ כֵּנִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ לֹא־הָי֥וּ עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ מְרַגְּלִֽים׃
We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

כֻּלָּנוּ בְּנֵי אִישׁ אֶחָד — נִצְנְצָה בָהֶם רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ. אָמְרִין לֵיהּ: אֲנַן וְאַתְּ בְּנוֹי דְּגַבְרָא חַד אֲנַן.
English of Source Text: The Midrash says that a flash of Divine inspiration came upon the brothers, so that in saying “we are all sons of one man” they unwittingly included Yosef among the sons of their father.
On the passuk: Their words contain an unwitting truth: Yosef is indeed the missing son of the same father.
Type of Learning: Derash on the verse (classic midrash) — not a formal named middah of the 13.
What Is Learned: Their statement that they were all sons of one man was prophetically true of Yosef as well.
