Core Text of Chazal

א״ר אלעזר, מניין שכל החלומות הולכין אחר הפה, שנאמר ויהי כאשר פתר לנו כן היה.

English of Core Text: R’ Elazar said: From where do we know that all dreams follow the mouth [i.e., the interpretation]? As it is said, “And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was.”

On the daf / in context: The Gemara teaches that the outcome of a dream is shaped by the interpretation given to it. One should therefore interpret dreams favorably when possible.

Type of Learning: Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13; the sugya establishes that dreams follow their interpretation.

What Is Learned: Dreams are realized according to the interpretation spoken over them. A person should therefore seek or give a favorable interpretation so that the dream unfolds for good.
