וּבַגֶּ֖פֶן שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה שָׂרִיגִ֑ם וְהִ֤וא כְפֹרַ֙חַת֙ עָלְתָ֣ה נִצָּ֔הּ הִבְשִׁ֥ילוּ אַשְׁכְּלֹתֶ֖יהָ עֲנָבִֽים׃
On the vine were three branches. It had barely budded, when out came its blossoms and its clusters ripened into grapes.

שְׁלֹשָׁה שָׂרִיגִים — אָמַר רַבִּי חִיָּא בַּר אַבָּא אָמַר רַב: אֵלּוּ שְׁלֹשָׁה שָׂרֵי גֵאִים הַיּוֹצְאִים מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל בְּכׇל דּוֹר וָדוֹר.
English: “Three branches” — R’ Chiya bar Abba said in the name of Rav: these are the three proud princes that emerge from Yisrael in every generation.
On the daf / in context: An alternate reading of sarigim as “sarei ge’im” — eminent leaders recurring each generation.
