וַיְהִי֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא וַיֵּ֥רֶד יְהוּדָ֖ה מֵאֵ֣ת אֶחָ֑יו וַיֵּ֛ט עַד־אִ֥ישׁ עֲדֻלָּמִ֖י וּשְׁמ֥וֹ חִירָֽה׃

And it came to pass at that time, that Yehudah went down from his brothers, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Chirah.

וַיֵּרֶד יְהוּדָה מֵאֵת אֶחָיו — תָּנֵי מִשּׁוּם רַבִּי יוֹסֵי: מָקוֹם מְזֻמָּן לְפֻרְעָנוּת. בִּשְׁכֶם עִנּוּ אֶת דִּינָה, בִּשְׁכֶם מָכְרוּ אֶת יוֹסֵף, בִּשְׁכֶם נֶחְלְקָה מַלְכוּת בֵּית דָּוִד.

English: “And Yehudah went down from his brothers” — it was taught in the name of Rabbi Yosei: A place designated for calamity. In Shechem they violated Dinah, in Shechem they sold Yosef, in Shechem the kingdom of the house of David was divided.

On the daf / in context: Sanhedrin 102a continues the theme of places associated with misfortune, linking Yehudah’s descent to the earlier events in Shechem.
