Parashas Vayeishev · Passuk 37:14
And he said to him: Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me back word. So he sent him out of the valley of Chevron, and he came to Shechem.
Torah Temimah points to Sanhedrin 102a.
English: It was taught in the name of Rabbi Yosei: A place designated for calamity. In Shechem they violated Dinah, in Shechem they sold Yosef, in Shechem the kingdom of the house of David was divided.
Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13. The destination Shechem is marked as a place historically primed for trouble.
Shechem is a location repeatedly linked to calamity: the violation of Dinah, the sale of Yosef, and the later division of the Davidic kingdom.
