Our Rabbis taught: “Go now, see the welfare of your brothers” — from here we learn that a Torah scholar should not go out alone at night.
Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13. The directive to check on the brothers is read as implying the need for company or daylight when traveling.
A Torah scholar should not travel alone at night. The verse supplies the source for this precaution.
