וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ל֥וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים שִׁמְךָ֣ יַעֲקֹ֑ב לֹֽא־יִקָּרֵא֩ שִׁמְךָ֨ ע֜וֹד יַעֲקֹ֗ב כִּ֤י אִם־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה שְׁמֶ֔ךָ וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And God said to him: Your name is Yaakov; your name shall no longer be called Yaakov, but Yisrael shall be your name. And He called his name Yisrael.

לא יקרא שמך עוד יעקב כי אם ישראל — מלמד שאין קורין לו יעקב אלא ישראל.

“Your name shall no longer be called Yaakov, but Yisrael” — this teaches that one does not call him Yaakov but Yisrael.
