Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: They said: Even though Lavan was wicked, he admitted the truth that the blessing of Hashem came because of Yaakov.

On the daf / in context: Lavan’s own words are taken as testimony that Yaakov’s presence brought Divine blessing to the household.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (midrashic) — not a formal named middah of the 13. The admission of a wicked man is used as confirmatory evidence of Yaakov’s merit.

What Is Learned

Even Lavan acknowledged that Hashem’s blessing on his house was due to Yaakov.
