The Complete Passuk

וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֨י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י וְאֹכֵ֑לָה בַּעֲב֛וּר תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת׃

Then prepare a dish for me such as I like, and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give you my innermost blessing before I die.

Torah Temimah points to Bava Basra 12b. E-Daf · Sefaria — Bava Basra 12b

מִכָּאן שֶׁהַמְבָרֵךְ צָרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת בְּשִׂמְחָה.

From here [we learn] that one who blesses must be in a state of joy.

On the daf / in context: Yitzchak first eats so that his spirit will be settled before he blesses.

Custom (halakhic inference — blessing requires joy)

One who bestows a blessing should first be in a state of joy; Yitzchak’s request for food before blessing is the model.
