וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ מַה־זֹּ֖את עָשִׂ֣יתָ לָּ֑נוּ כִּ֠מְעַ֠ט שָׁכַ֞ב אַחַ֤ד הָעָם֙ אֶת־אִשְׁתֶּ֔ךָ וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ עָלֵ֖ינוּ אָשָֽׁם׃

Avimelech said, “What have you done to us! One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”

English: The one singled out from the people—this is the king.

On the daf / in context: “One of the people” is read as the distinguished one—the king himself—who might have taken Rivkah.
