Avraham took the wood of the burnt-offering and placed it on Yitzchak his son; he took in his hand the fire and the knife, and the two of them went together.

English: “The knife” — so called because it “eats” the flesh. “And the two of them went together” — Avraham, who knew he was going to slaughter his son, walked with the same willingness and joy as Yitzchak, who did not yet sense the matter.
Derash on the verse (Rashi) — not a formal named middah of the 13. The shared verb of walking is read as shared inner consent.
True readiness for the test is measured by the step itself; Avraham’s knowledge did not slow or darken his walk beside Yitzchak.
