Core Textכִּי בְּיוֹם אֲכָלְךָ מִמֶּנּוּ מוֹת תָּמוּת — אָמְרוּ: יוֹמוֹ שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא אֶלֶף שָׁנִים, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר כִּי אֶלֶף שָׁנִים בְּעֵינֶיךָ כְּיוֹם אֶתְמוֹל, וְאָדָם הָרִאשׁוֹן חַי תְּשַׁע מֵאוֹת וּשְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה.
English of Core Text: “For on the day you eat of it you shall surely die” — they said: A day of the Holy One, blessed be He, is a thousand years, as it is said “For a thousand years in Your eyes are as yesterday”; and Adam the first man lived nine hundred and thirty years.
